Has anyone released a game and got earning (or) got funding for a game using invector ?
Can you share your experiences ?
Yes we have released a game using the controller. Here is a link...
store.steampowered.com/app/895750/The_Adventures_of_Mr_Fluffykins/Have we earned money...yes, Is it more than $1000.00... yes, will I say how much...no, lol.
As for the experience, well that brings a whole world of things. The experience of making and actually finishing the game all the way through to release was a very good learning experience. This game was made by myself(coding), and my girlfriend(building the levels, designing the puzzles), we did this when I would come home from work and made it out of our bedroom(since that is where the desktop PC is at).
I can say as far as the controller is concerned, you will not find a better one to work with on the store. It has extreme flexibility, the only issues you hear about are from all of the people who do not know the first thing about coding, but they think they are gonna make a game (that is not only absurd, but impossible if you are not "flipping" a garbage game).
Making a full game all the way through to production takes a lot of time, patience and banging your head off of the wall, wanting to give up, contemplating life decisions and the list goes on. However if you stick to it and see it through to the end, you will gain invaluable experience and self accomplishment, as well as motivation to make a "better" game moving forward with all of the things you learned along the way. And trust me it feels good even if game doesn't sell a million copies!
To elaborate on the above timeframe(this game took about 6 months), our other games are in process for over 2 years now.
Now I will touch on the last topic (the one everyone is scared to talk about it seems)....
The gaming community is by far the most TOXIC community you will ever deal with, they will rip apart every little thing you have done, because they do not understand the work it takes to make a game they just play it. Not everyone is like that by any means, we actually had a very nice person contact us and they even put together a PDF of any and all things that they found wrong with the game, making it very easy to fix due to knowing where to look for the mistakes, it was an awesome experience and one that will always be remembered. Other people just ripped the game apart and left negative reviews because they thought "the cat looked seedy" or because the cat walks on 2 legs....not because there were actual problems with the game itself. Some people only buy your game to make a quick youtube video of it and then refund it, with the hopes of getting views for their channels. Hence why most negatives are left from people with 20mins or less of game play.
Part of these things also came from the people thinking we are an actual studio, not just a couple of people, and once they find out it is just a couple of people they change the tune.
To end the topic for now, I would just say that if you see a game all the way to production, be ready and mentally prepared to take the good with the bad, do not let the people who trash what you have made get under your skin (they sure can't or haven't done it). We have mixed reviews because of people just mostly being "dicks" and people who trash everyones stuff no matter how good it is, but you know what... We saw it through til the end and have since been working on 3 other games that are taking forever, lol! But they will come out better due to the learning that was involved in actually doing one the first time.
