Just asking. Are you using a terrain shader like lux or RTP or Megasplat? Looks to me like a wetness effect has been applied on the terrain. Also if possible why don't you regenerate the terrain with the gaia session and check?
I am on 5.6 latest beta. If you send me your gaia resources files and the session I can give it a shot. Just remove any game object spawners. I am assuming you're using the default pack that comes with gaia?

Can you give more details about the flickering? English isn't my first language and maybe there are other definitions that I don't know. Are the mountains themselves or the shadows of them? Because if it happens with the shadows, you can try reducing the "Near" value in Clipping Planes, in your camera; I don't know now, but a few months ago it was a Unity bug with some graphics cards.
I just need the smoothness/shine to go away honestly, i just want my terrain to look normal. Man sorry i didn't see this thread earlier. The solution is pretty simple. You need to change the import settings of the texture itself. Whats happening is that the terrain is rendering your diffuse texture as both a texture and a normal map by getting alpha from grey scale. If you add a normal map, this can make it go away most of the time (but not always). So here is what you do.... Select the texture your using so you can see it in the inspector. It should say "texture import settings". Now, where it says "Alpha from grey-scale" click that drop down box and select "none". this will completely remove the shine, and those weird shiny edges. Now some textures will look flat, like cobblestone textures. For these you need a normal map (Crazy Bump, x64 Normal, etc can all create normal maps from a texture image and most are free). Once you make the normal map, simply apply it along with the texture and it should look the way it is suppose to. Note: I store all the textures i plan on using in the terrain into their own folder, so i can configure them separately. Some textures i have for both re-texturing and terrain. For those i duplicate them and i change the import settings only on the one i plan to use on the terrain. If you have any more questions, feel free to message me if i don't respond, as i don't always look at this sub-forum

You can try taking a copy of the gaia session and running it on a different project to see if it fixes the terrain. I'm sure it's a problem with the material.
