I trying to change the sound of my player's footsteps using a custom surface. I have followed the video tutorial on how to create a custom surface but it only plays the default sounds. I have checked the name of the material used to trigger the new sounds and the layer of the surface that is being walked on is set to default.
The diffuse texture and material share the same name. I've also tried the names of the three other textures of the same name. I am using 3D forge's sewer kit. There must be something unique to the kit/textures because I just tried another texture not part of the kit and it works. Could this be a UV issue?
I tried to answer your email but it's returning, so here's the answer:
Hmm that explains a lot... this is an Atlas, it's not a normal texture... if you take a closer look there are several different textures for several different objects on this image.
Even if it works, all of those objects would have the same footstep sound which is not ideal. A workaround for what you can do is to create a collider for your object and use a transparent texture to trigger the surface you want instead of using the collider directly from the object that uses this atlas.
