That would seem like a good idea, but then again it should be able to interact with your waypoint system too. Personally for me, my biggest issue with the minimap was trying to get enemy icons and other objects to pop up in the minimap. My original idea was to create a new canvas called MINIMAPCONS. Basically all minimap icons will be like circles that will follow the respected player's position above their head however this is an inefficient method. I have taken a look at UGUI's minimap and I really like it, but there are some things that wouldn't make it adequate for a third person controller. Part of their method to render enemy icons is to assign each object an "IconDisplayable" script. The script takes in an image that will serve as its icon. There's more to this approach but I will have to look into it agai later. Maybe we can work on the minimap together, I already have a minimap that is adequate to start off with. I think the biggest issue for both of us will be optimization of the mini map camera. Hey nerdares, personally I don't know/own UGUI's minimap, but I'm using a similar method to display the markers on the map. Update should be live soon, currently finishing the marker pool system to increase performance when dealing with MANY markers ;-) For the minimap: I have already a project, where I coded a beautifully working minimap. It just needs some tuning to work with Invector and runtime changes. The compass feature I finished yesterday when I had some free time Cheers, sickscore sounds good! I cannot wait to try this!

Sorry guys, but the update will go live tomorrow. I've encountered some small problems that I need to fix first.
Here is a short preview: Just ignore things like melee actions when in map view (it's on this small problems list aswell^^).
NOTE: YouTube is still processing the video, HD should be available soon.
The panel to edit waypoints (position, colors, icon) is not shown in the video, but will be in the update aswell ;-)

I can see this being used in a pause menu where you would want to set a waypoint on the map.

Hey guys, unfortunately I haven't got that much time today to work on the system, but it is nearly at a point, where I want to release it to the public. Just need to finish some stuff on the "waypoint edit panel". Expect the update until weekend Geers, sickscore

Maybe I put in in the store when it's complete?!? Glad the community likes it! That is one hell of waypoint system and it keeps getting better and better! Thanks! I put really alot of effort in this project so far. btw, congrats for your 500th forum post :D

You guys like the system with the changes? I see many downloads, so it would be awesome if someone give me a short feedback @ Invector Thanks for the pin!

Nah jks I'm really sorry but I haven't sat down with it yet! I downloaded it but haven't put it on anything. But to make it up to you, after dinner tonight I am going to run one of my tutorial streams where I'll implement the double jump AND this new updated waypoint marker addon. So you'll be able to see in real time how user friendly your system is

Have made a new twitch vid for this and the multi jump add on. Will edit post once it's loaded onto youtube. Fantastic, the second camera for the map works better than I thought it would but might end up with some issues on some game styles where players would prefer a picture map. but that's up to them to implement it The video is about 25 mins long and includes me setting up double jump, but I think I ran into two issues that might need to be looked at. One main one was in map mode, none of the other key inputs are blocked, so when I was writing a name for my marker it was triggering other controls including the main menu. I'm not sure if there was some toggle somewhere I had to click to prevent the input from affecting the player or some way to pause the game while using the waypoint marker. It also didn't hide elements of the original UI so I had the xbox control button layout over the top of the stats area in waypoint creation. I can't remember what the second issue was, I will watch my video again to see :D

Second camera approach: I also tried other methods like RenderTexture in UI and a picture map. For me, the second camera gave me the best results in my type of game. Furthermore you don't need to create a picture map for your game. Not that easy when you need to be really accurate with positions in the map. The input should be blocked automatically when the map is open. Maybe change the "Update()" in the vWaypointMapController to "LateUpdate()". For me it's working fine. Strange. The UI from Invector is the first thing I replace when importing the system (sorry Invector ). I use my own version of the UI, so I forgot about the controls overlay in the original. Cheers, sickscore

No problem! I hit m when i first went to type in the waypoint name so i wonder if that had something to do with it. I'll hve a play around again.
I'm wondering if the 2nd camera mode might just make it too busy with a real time rendering of the world. But one way around it could be to make a flat layer of the image floating above or below the terrain and have the second camera only render that and nothing else, that way you can still click on the collider but will only see the map image. Might give that a go tonight.
