When i load the character into a plane scene it doesn't work as in tended. He only moves on way ( which is forward). I am using the 2.1a version and unity 5.6 is there something i am missing?

The character needs some things to work properly. Create a empty scene, delete everything, create a controller with the wizard and it should create for you: - -The Controller
- -Matching Camera
- -Game Controller
- -Event System
- -UI

Not sure what's going on in that image! :$
But the problem of your character only moving forward is because your camera is nissing the vthirdpersoncamera script. It needs that to control the direction of the player movement. I had that problem when using the easy save bridge, characters could move forward even when pushing back on the joystick and it was because thete was no camera script.

Like dreadlord has posted, if you run the character wizard and choose your model (vbot included) it will auto populate the scene with the appropriate camera. I think what you may have done was drag a player prefab into the scene from the project window, and thus you are missing the necessary scripts. You can also check out some of the invector youtube tutorials for character creation, it might help you understand how the controller is setup.

Use the wizard to create a new character and make sure to select the FBX model and not a prefab of a third person

Use the wizard to create a new character and make sure to select the FBX model and not a prefab of a third person i just tried this and i get the error i get in the picture. before i tried this, i had one working properly by loading in a prefab ( or the custom one ) and it worked fine, just the camera was pivoting around the feet.

I never saw that error or this strange movement before, do you have any other asset imported in your project besides the template?

I never saw that error or this strange movement before, do you have any other asset imported in your project besides the template? I had a few so what i did was deleted all of them and started a new project and it worked fine. went back into my project deleted what i didnt need; i did use the wizard and this is were the issue comes into play. I would follow the youtube video. but the only thing different is there, is no 3rd person camera state you have either melee or basic to choose from. i would choose melee click on the fbx ( or mobile ) or any of the non prefab ones and then set everything up, run it and that error happens every time. i would load a prefab and 90% of the time it works just fine with lil issues here and there. I am not sure what i am doing wrong but it seems to work when i load a prefab into the wizard. and do it that way. The error was fixed by restarting unity. the way the toon is standing was manly my error

drewbear50 we receive a report of another user with this issue of the character twisted on the mobile scene, are you by any change using a Mac OS? I'm trying to figure out why/how this behaviour is happening

Just figure it out, it's a bug from 5.6.0.
I'm not sure why, but the Mobile version of the V-bot model is causing this twisted behaviour on the last version of unity... It works fine on previous versions, and I think your models should work fine too.
