After a long time of continuous development on our [Third Person Templates] we created a new template but this time AI is the focus. We already have a pretty cool AI in the Melee Combat Template but that was just a bonus so you can have a target to throw a few punches, but this one is a whole new thing.
Design from scratch with the goal to be customizable and expandable, this AI works with an FSM Node Editor that allows the creation of new behaviors easier with our built-in Actions & Decisions, advanced scripting knowledge is not necessary to create unique behaviors. It's not a traditional Behavior Tree neither a Scriptable Object concept but a new approach that combine some features from both.
It was designed with Third Person Templates in mind and it works great with, but it also works without the templates so you can use it in your FPS or VR project.

I know no one say anything oficial about the price but really? we have to pay for this too? with all do respect to your product and the hard work you put in it. I love the template but you sell a basic shooter template with at the price of $70 in the same market where other people like opsive charge the same exact amount for a instatly working with little to no modification : shooter A.I.,Dive , Swimming, climbing, local coop, multiplayer,Hang,Fly a integrated working spell system. comparing to the invector TPS cost $100 for a shooter template with only swimming and climbing i was ok with that but now we have to pay $15 to $30 more to have a decent A.I.? specialy when it comes on the list of upcoming updates like for a year never saying it will be a paying update or not I don't want sound ungrateful to your product specialy for all the help invector bring me to lern to use it. That's why i already I bought most of the add ons to support the invector community but this is too much.
And i know nobody forces the people to pay for all the add ons But that's the point the people will prefer buying another more complete template for less money.
I hope understand my point and don't take it as an attack i'm just saying my opinion as a customer
kendall we already discuss that on the RoadMap thread, but here we go...
We did promise a Simple Shooter AI for the Shooter Template users since the Melee Combat Template already has one. So basically Shooter Template users will have a chance to grab the AI Template for Free for a limited time (plenty of time).
The thing is, we start developing the new AI and the package got bigger and bigger, and the more we see it the more it required to be a standalone asset, it was no longer a 'cool bonus' for the template, but rather a full complete AI solution that can work with an FPS or VR project and that's what we're selling.
We invested a lot of time working on this templates and today it is our full-time job but the only way to keep bringing so many updates with improvements and new content for you guys, is by having enough to pay our bills... otherwise we would need to find day jobs and the updates would be less and less.
Feel free to try others assets and see what fits better your project (and your pocket) but I think that the price practice in the AssetStore for some assets is insanely cheap if you stop and analyze the content you're getting (just my thought also as a customer)
With due respect to Opsive and the effort to create it, his/her template has nothing to do against this, although it's more complete (in actions like riding horses, swimming, climbing, etc), it's totally generic and lacks personality, if you put any character, it looks like any other template that you can see on Youtube, you would have to change all the animations to make it look a bit AAA. It's been a while since we updated it, but it didn't even have Events, with Events and a little knowledge of C# or even JS, you can do anything and expand the possibilities of a template. Sorry, but we used it for a while and everything was so orthopedic that our game looked like a ArmA III in a world of Playmobils, it took a lot of effort and money invested in animations from third parties to make that change.
Invector has said several times that AI will be free for a limited time to actual users, where is the problem? Even if it were not like that, investing $100, $200, $500 (Euros in Europe, which is more expensive), is very little compared to the minimum gains that a videogame can give when publishing it, that's not to mention if you ask for a Kickstarter or any financing.
