The invector package is amazing and im very impressed so far with how awesome it is once you start to figure things out.
However this old tutorial is not ok. Im also stuck at this part of Invector... It dosent even show you how to set the old tutorial up; let alone the new updates. The old tutorial scene is already done and your just quickly showing it off. Your just assuming the newbies who just spent their money on your package know as much about it as you do. The script has been updated so much since the old tutorial. Its very different with so many empty fields that need to be filled in. I found one newer tutorial about getting into a car. No audio: and when I scanned through it he is making lots of mistakes trying to figure out what he is doing.
People bought a package like this to save time. Alot of people just have little bits of time here and there while they are doing other jobs; some are little kids that got your package for their birthday present and were hoping to be able to do something cool with it to show their friends... when your selling on the asset store its not just to professional game devs. For me the different packages from the asset store are helping me learn about whats possible in unity.
Earlier I had to spend a couple days of my life trying to decipher one of the other old tutorials to be able to pick up weapons... from no audio tutorials and old outdated tutorials. I had to make some workarounds to get the whole thing to work. It seemed to be a miracle that I actually figured it out. I Had to make notes. I was so happy. My awareness is most people would not be able to do that; and some new tutorials will be great.
When I tried to look at these interaction tutorials it just seemed to freeze my brain, while looking at the new interface with so many buttons and so many more fields to fill in... completely different than the tutorials... calculating that it may take many hours or days of messing around with it before I figure it out and get it to work; and maybe run out of time that I have available to do this. Im usually making $50 to $100 an hour; so me spending 12 hours over 2 days focusing on deciphering your 5-10 minute tutorial is what im looking at doing again; that is what I had to do to be able to pick up weapons... from my perspective it is not a good deal.
I know you know how to use your systems properly; and you could have a proper tutorial done in a tiny little bit of time; and therefore save so many people so many hours; as well as save many from giving up because they ran out of time after wasting hours or days and not figuring it out. you just never hear from those people and you have their money.
Its only after repeating the whole process a few times that it starts to seem like common sence; I dont think its fair to expect someone who has never done this to just jump over to the new interface and know how to plug in all the fields to get it to work.
I will see what I can do with clarifying and scanning the notes I made. And when I have time I guess I will have to psych myself up to try to look at those old mind knumbing tutorials again to try to decipher some notes I can follow; like I did with the weapons pickup.
Whats the makers of Invector working on lately?
