How to disable walking/running animation on trigger enter?

Hello I haven't been able to find the way to disable walking/running animation on trigger enter cause I am trying to make a quest scene where the character enters and triggers another camera point of view. When this happens I need the character to stop running/walking once he enters the trigger and just stay in stand animation listening to the npc talk. Any idea?

You can lock their input via the input script. Methods are allready set .up for you they just need to be called

I already locked movement so the player cannot move the character but if the player was running or walking before entering the trigger zone the character stays on auto run/walk without pressing anything, that's my issue.

Right ok makes sense. So you could also set the input that drives the character to 0. I think that’s in the motor. This however will keep the animations going so you will need to set the animator to 0.

Okay thanks I managed to set the character walkspeed, runningspeed etc to 0 but the only thing I have to deal now is with the animator. I dont want to disable the whole animator, I just need the character to switch from running/walking animation to standing animation. Haven't found the way to do that.

Ok so I would not change the speeds in the vThirdPersonAnimator on line 121 add
else
{
animator.SetFloat(vAnimatorParameters.InputVertical, 0);
animator.SetFloat(vAnimatorParameters.InputHorizontal, 0);
}

That will stop the animator, by setting lockAnimMovement to true

Give that a go and it may fix all the problems you had.

Ok but the thing is I have to return the inputs to default value after the quest scene finishes so the character can move again normally. But I cant find the default values anywhere in the script

Yes you would, you should be accessing this all from the top script so the vThirdPersonController from there you can access any of the below scripts I.E animator motor character ect.

You also might get away with setting the rigid body’s velocity to 0 instead of changing root speed values.

not your animator script, in vThirdPersonAnimator look for line 121. Don't forget to set the bool from the trigger when he enters and exits

This script I just posted is literally called vThirdPersonAnimator, I dont have any other script with that name. The others are Motor, Input and Controller

You can use the vSimpleTrigger and call the method LockAllInput (it looks both input and reset the animation)

Sorry I would have done this for you before I just happened to be at work every time. So I did test this and it stopped my character dead in its tracks. I did not test the releasing of it but It should work. I made this script and just put it on the character. Then ontrigger enter called the voids you may have to change it to your liking.
