tharindu You're clearly more in the loop than I; it's news to me that there was immediately a smaller, exclusive alpha group (obviously I didn't get an invite). I'll defer to your judgement on the status of Gaia 2. As for your falling out... I suspect that he's still sore about what happened with Jason (Booth) and doesn't want anyone in his test group to have close ties to the developers of any competing products. It's a shame, as those are the people who often have the most expertise in a particular domain.

I don't particularly like voicing an opinion on this much because it was a bitter experience as I had been quite loyal but quite vocal about giving proper feedback, but he's been falling out with quite a bunch of people who develop some of the best upcoming tools in the asset store market, and the result will obviously be a lack of integration with Gaia in those upcoming tools that will I am sure be the defacto standard for doing certain things within Unity. Personally, I hope developers get along because at the end of the day, it's a win for us all.

Absolutely. And "competing" products aren't always exclusive anyway. The best asset for use in one project might very well not be the best for use in another. It's not like I don't own 2-4 competing assets in multiple categories. Case in point: I participate in the beta groups for Opsive (TPC) and ootii (all of his stuff, really) and I'm posting about it in a discussion on the Invector forum (the irony is not lost on me). I can't say that any one of the three controllers is the best across the board; it depends entirely on the nature of the project (and what other 3rd party assets are in use). But back to Vegetation Studio. Bought it, haven't even downloaded it yet. Looking forward to trying it out though.

You're gonna love it. Hopefully you'll be downloading the last update. I am not sure but I have a feeling the latest update may have the gaia integration.

I can say Invector is the best TPC out there because I tried the others and they are horrible! Plus archery is free on the Invector tpc so :P And yeah from the discord, there is Gaia integration, it's either already built in to the functionality or there is direct action from the devs from both tools in integrating them, which is super good to see.
I've been playing with the very basics of VS and invector and I have to say it does an amazing job, fantastic setting on a 1080ti and I am in a fully grassed forest and getting 180fps average. Just insane.

My turn, lol! Vegetation Studio is definitely worth owning, could use some slightly better setup guides and docs, but works rather well so far for us. Gaia is definitely falling behind as far as terrain creation tools, I mean seriously just take a look at 1000 terrain pics and you can pull out every Gaia one, that is mostly due to no one ever changes anything(textures, grass, etc...). It lack a lot of things that every other terrain tool has. We own Gaia, World Creator, TC2, Voxeland, and Map Magic and my personal opinion is Map Magic trumps them all, especially for realism. And of course you can use Map Magic with Voxeland integration and make some sweet things! World Creator would be second and has some really sweet features, and TC2 would come in there as well but when I started using it, it was a little on the confusing side of the bunch. And absolutely Invectors controller is the best by far, the ease of use, the addons, and more importantly the community and the support that all of us give to each other, I have not seen another asset that has this kind of "Family" feeling, still waiting for that Archery Update though, lol!

and the thing you didn't know you've been waiting for! TC2 lets play, and by let's play I mean let's waste an hour in it trying to figure it out.

I've tried figuring out TC2 a couple of times, but I always ended up setting it aside after a few minutes as I just found Gaia more intuitive and needed to get something done quickly. I strongly disagree with you about the Opsive and ootii controllers being "horrible" -- but since this is Invector's site, I'm going to let it go and not argue the point.

what did you say?!?! I will fight you!!! hehe nah j/k, i've dabbled with both opsive and ootii controllers and found them to just be really clunky and poor, but that's my experience and I don't expect others to have similar. I also don't like the way ootii split up a lot of their functionality into extra packs, Invector does it, but the core packs are enough to develop from, whereas i found with ootii you needed to buy like 4 or 5 things to get it to work. ANd opsive was just a nightmare for figuring out how to replace anims or make new ones, and the stuff that was there didn't work half the time. But again i'm no whizbang dev, maybe it was just above my skill level.
Also here is this VS related video!
