How did you make your view blur in the distance? What filter is that? What effects did you use with gaia to make the plants look so good? Thanks!

good questions kaj! THe blur effect is depth of field, I also used bloom and ambient occlusion. these are available with gaia and also free with the cinematic effects content pack on the unity store. fiddling with their settings (i think i also used tone mapping) will get you the effect like in the images and help with setting the colour tones from unity lights as well as give that nice soft blur background that ease off some of the hard detail in distant terrain

I was planning on downloading the Cinematic effects. I've been using the standard unity ones. Thanks.
EDIT: All I was missing was ambient occlusion, haha. That literally made my scene look like yours. Thanks!

Slightly spammy post, but I have changed the thread topic to match the new WIP I am working on rather than create a new thread. Project SavagE is the current working title of the game I am developing as an evolution of the previous Exile project. As exile is based on an existing IP, I can't take it further without causing issues. Savage will draw on many sources as inspiration for its content including the Avernum series, however it will be its own IP. Check back here for progress on the project such as videos and blogs, or feel free to check out the RPG addon pack thread by Chronicman as I'll be posting some demonstration videos there to show off his great work.

Oh the one a few posts back was a test using the standard stuff in gaia to make a pretty looking demo. From that I used gaia with my own set of textures to make the terrain in the savage project. I might turn the pretty one into a game at a later stage but I'll have to buy some pbr assets, my stock is currently majority cartoony stylised! Though i do have a good detailed village from that dnk guy.

have to join the bandwagon here.
I realize this is an IP in works, so I know things (hopefully the naked guy *wink*) will change in the future, but as Chronic mentioned, the UI, that spellbook. my oh my.
That's really great work Uber. seriously. I really like it a lot.
I cannot give any critisizm at this point because its still early in dev. the thing I most admire about someone doing a RPG game...
the icons needed....oh lord...the number of f&^*^ing icons for weapons, spells, items, potions, ugh....

Haha yep! All of my weapons and items have their own icons made by hand using screenshots and photoshop (so far i am up to 300 of 1500 :/) haven't even looked at skills etc yet. I am going to wait till i get a hold of the genericai addon because that already has some status effects etc so I'll look at how they are implmented and use them before i go finding new icon assets.
The journal layout I really like, was $10 on the store and came with the outline pictures shown there, i love them as it reminds me of the cartoony sketches in the avernum series so that's definitely something I'm going to keep in but there will be more pages to go through for other menu options. I'm also spewin' I didn't buy the mega sounds pack when it was on special as I am sure the book opening and closing sounds were in it :P
But yeah i'll be fiddling with making npc's say random things that appear as text above their heads and turning the quest giver npc's into single noc's per town either as a notice board or a town master who organises quests. All other npc's will have chat trees so you can get clues to the location of quests or a bit of background into what's going on.

So I looked at a few dialogue system options today, most of them are either not able to do the "bark" style system that I want, or do the barks but also do 10 million other things that I don't need for 10 times the cost. Might try and see if I can usurp some of the rpg addon code that displays the vendor title etc to do random text excerpts. Anyway while i was browsing I saw the pack of models I like was on sale, so snapped them up. I was originally going to try and make skinned meshes for my male/female base group that I've been using all this time, but the thought of the size of the task was daunting, but these new models come with a cloth set and I think I can probably throw in variation if I can figure out how to use modified texture/materials to create diverse outfits selectable by the equipment menu. For a future time. anyway here is a quick look at the 6 new player models for Savage!
