I think that the best thing to do in terms of camera thing would be to just use Cinemachine. We've done the same thing, took only a couple of hours and everything looks far more polished now.
Very noice with the sliding. Is it going to be default thing in new version? My system uses all sorts of float values from Animator so you cant slide while standing still hehe. + Any idea when the update will drop to Unity? Cant wait to remake my Animator the fourth time.. xD
I'm finishing fixing some bugs in the AI Template and I will upload all of our assets later tonight in the vStore and AssetStore (obviously the asset store will still take a few days to approve) ;)
