Custom inventories can be tricky to add, although we don't limit the controller to exclusevely use our own inventory system, you will loose a lot of extra funcionalities like trigger to identify if a item is equipped, weapon holder system, etc...
Basically you just need to instantiate the weapon prefab inside the controller handler and it will auto-equip, so you just need to make sure when you equip the weapon on your UI it goes to the correct place
