I am not planning on having an inventory (at least not manageable by the player), but I want to be able to have a weapon that is equipped when aiming, and in the holder when not aiming.
I have searched and searched for how to do this and have seen some references to demo scenes for inventory, but those do not seem to exist in the install.
I am ok with starting the scene with the player having the weapon too, either by adding in code, or by an auto pickup.
I am a developer by trade, so pointers to code are fine.

Did you check the NoInventory demo scene?
