How to recover not at the starting position, but at the current position of the character. Easiest would be to write a script that stores the character transform outside of the character prefab, and attach it to the OnDead event so when you die it sends a refrence for the transforms to another file. When spawning simply set the alive players current transform to your old dead players. I think there is an event for that as well (OnBirth()).
Anything more then that, like saving equipment, and you might want to consider easy save 2.

Isn't the Easy Save Invector integration deprecated?

Isn't the Easy Save Invector integration deprecated? Not in the spell system. Chronic's doesn't work anymore though. Insomnia got it working along with a SQL database for an alternative. Either way, you either have to write one yourself or use easy save if your trying to store more then a few simple variables, and easy save isn't the worst asset to work with.
