The kick attack almost always makes the legs clip through the enemy.
There is a huge difference between a sword clipping through an enemy and the player legs doing it. Even in AAA games, swords go through the enemy, however legs don't. Leg attack should only be done when the enemy is pushed back a lot as soon as the leg touches him/her, in a way that legs don't clip through the enemy.
This is just IMHO.

Try learning the reaction/recoil system and replace the original animations. Remember, this is a template, Most of the default animations are just place holders. The clipping problem is simple because you need the collider entering another collider to trigger the animation. That's going to be the case no matter what you do.
