how to get 3rd party muzzle flashes working

how would i replace the stock muzzle flashes on the shooter template?

each weapon has the muzzle flash particle effect on the weapon itself. it's a child of the object. Open up the m4a1 weapon in the hierarchy and take a look, there are 4 there i believe.

edit: it would be as simple as placing the effect in the place of the current effect and linking it to the weapon script
