***Update - This is now released on the Unity Asset store. u3d.as/Wz3 ***
***Thread on the Unity forums HERE for updates and requests***
I haven't disappeared. I've just been taking a break from my game to work on a sci-fi modular level building kit for Unity. I love these types of kits, and decided I wanted to give making one a shot. So far I have 28 wall panels, 13 floor patterns, and 1 light. lol
Taking a bit longer than I estimated that it would. I'm on 2 weeks so far. Next up I need to make some ceilings (this video is using floor sections for ceilings, as I intend to have recessed ceilings with emissive lighting, etc.) Also need to make some props and details to put in. More lights. Also need to throw in some bigger entryways.
Let me know what you guys think, and any recommendations.
I'll need to post an update, it's getting pretty awesome.
now have ceilings with lots of nice angles and recessed lighting. have some doors and door animations all scripted and working. also threw together some large hanger style doors that are 9 different parts that open up in interesting ways. going to do a few more different textures for each model, and plan to try to get it on the asset store soon. Will also still need to build out some demo levels and maybe some pre-built prefab rooms and such. haven't decided if I want to delve into props and such for it yet. or just leave this kit as is, and maybe do more kits for props, etc.
Update. I would love any recommendations or feedback.
I am now up to 84 wall sections 13 different floor patterns 1 floor light 1 animated door 1 animated hanger door 12 recessed ceilings w/ emissive lighting 12 recessed ceilings w/ emissive lighting and point lights
Someone asked why I had the directional light turned off, and if it was because light bleeds through the walls/etc. The answer is no. I just tend to always turn it off while I am working, it's a habit. I'll be sure to keep it on from now on. I was very careful to work the geometry to black out all light.
One of the issues that I've had with some of the other kits on the Asset store is light bleed. My kit does not have this issue. If you have the sun turned on, and you walk inside, it should feel like you are inside. With this kit, it definitely accomplishes that.
well... it's submitted to the Unity Asset store. So, we'll see what happens. It's up to 229 pieces now. Gonna keep adding on with updates, but I want to wait until it is up on the store before I make anymore changes. So... now for the waiting game.
Update 1.1 is now live on the Unity Asset Store. Up to 479 prefabs now. u3d.as/Wz3
Does anyone here use any modular kits such as the 3dforge interiors for any of their level building? If so, I'd love to hear any feedback. If anyone is really interested, and doesn't feel like spending the 10 bucks that I have the starting price set at, I may be willing to gift a copy if I can get a review or something.
nah from the unity forum thread i saw this " [Deprecated temporarily: I've decided that I'm going to create textures for this, rather than using the current atlas'. I wanted to deprecate it, so it doesn't end up breaking anyone's projects when I replace them all.] "
it's looking nice, i've been holding off because i dont want to start my sci fi project till i finish my other one :P
