hey all vbrothers and vsisters, Lately i have seen the forum explode with multiplayer and i checked out the scripts that are currently floating in the threads. my biggest question is if there is an audience for a premium multiplayer (addon)? currently i have photon setup with gamelobbys and giving the player the option to join. The player also has multiple maps to choose from already. if there is an audience for this, i was planning to make it for a small fee (like coffee money). features i intend on implementing if i decide to do this: -combat (duh) -lobby's -map selection -chat -friends list and joining friends game -trade items(optional) if u have any suggestions on features please let me know. If you would be interested in this kind of addon , LET ME KNOW. Cause i might not make it otherwise Ciao

If you ask me, I would not buy an addon for multiplayer. Reason being it's going to be difficult to tailor make and addon to work with different multiplayer solutions available. There's photon, there's forge, and there's good old unet. People tend to go for what's hot and what's fast. For this reason, I would make one myself.
But I think it would be good if you can make one for unet/forge since the solution is free and anyone trying to get into multiplayer will look there first.

But I think it would be good if you can make one for unet/forge since the solution is free and anyone trying to get into multiplayer will look there first. I was actually planning to go for photon , reason being is that unet is free as long as u are under 20ccu , while photon ccu limit is way higher and once u actually pay for either photon is alot cheaper , unet requires payment/GB and payment /CCU.... wich frankly sucks. i know it is hard to make a multiplayer addon that works for everyone , so i would focus on photon, furthermore it is only for invector template, everything else would be the job of the buyer to sync.

I think the question you should ask then is the market for photon here in the invector user base For example how many are using photon as of now. From a few discussions I've had with the guys here for sometime, not many here, including me are pro enough to start coding multiplayer straight away and therefore most of them are afraid of investing the cash on it. So if you're doing this for your project, personally, and intend to earn a few bucks along the way for coffee money like I intend to with my addons, I think it's a good approach. But if you're going all in and committing time to build a fully fledged addon for the community with the hopes of selling it, better do some market research. Why not create a poll It'll be interesting. I am definitely interested in what the community wants.

I am in the works of making a FNR addon, so you don't need to worry about that . About pricing it's up to you, if you were to add a price tag, make sure the support is there, devs want to make sure they get something out of there investment. Once I am done with the quest system I too will give a shot at looking into multiplayer. I personally don't need a lot of multiplayer in the game I hope to build one day. Just 2 player co-op would do.

In the future I'd like to make a massive multiplayer one using rooms and lobbies instead of instances spread on a world map. So a basic addon that handled combat would be neat and something I would look at. As for what system, network stuff is beyond my current skillset and not something I've given much thought to, so I am happy with whatever system it's made with.
Keen to see how it turns out.

NuclearRasberry the second person that asks me to make a poll , hahaha funny thing is i dont know how... also what should i ask in the poll? im sure i want to make it with photon as of support ever since i started working with invector months ago i checked the forum daily and would love to help the people with this. so that will be fine , i dont know if ill make it paid , free , or optional yet though, i need this in my own project so ill make it anyway... the main reason for this thread is actually to get some ideas for nice features currently i have option for gamemode selection, map selection, joining and creating game lobby's and ofcourse basic multiplayer

For my setup, I'm probably looking at persistant servers, so the ability to join lobby for a server in play and join in/out, is that an option?
