Is there anyway to pay for specific updates? I am seeking an RPG engine with deeper character progression (attributes, levels experience, equip-able armour, magic etc.). Can I pay to get an RPG update / module for the Invector Third Person Controller? All that is already possible with Invector..... I used to talk like that but I realized that Invector's system is a template for you to extend and make your own game.... The past two i have been learning to code and Invector's code is like source code... Provided you know what you are doing you can deconstruct the system and reconstruct it to suit your needs. Learn C# and be a game developer... Having said πππthat i was planning on realising an add on with all the features you mention although decision i have to think about really seriously... Plus you already have options there is another guy making something similar a RPG add on... Go the add ons section Again don't be lazy, actually learn how to codeπππ

Plus you already have options there is another guy making something similar a RPG add on... Go the add ons section Again don't be lazy, actually learn how to codeπππ So I am looking for an RPG engine to build a proper RPG with. I am not good with coding, I am passable with Unity and I have some scripting experience yet it is not my strongest creative aspect. Although I have spent decades now drafting and designing an RPG series, yet I am having a really hard time finding people who I can talk with. I am at the point in my journey where I need to find help from without. I have a realistic Unity 3D tank game being actively developed (creating accurate ballistics) and I ask people who I work with if they are interested in working on parts of an RPG and one answer after another is 'don't make a RPG'. Yet I realize that the majority of my time spent drafting and designing and making art revolves around an RPG setting. I have made community content modules for Baldur's Gate, I worked on World of Warcraft private servers. I have used other game engines, Flare, YoYo Gamemaker, (and more), RPG Maker 2003 and Modified RPG Maker MV to be bent and twisted into a 3D and action battle system engine. Yet these game engines were limited and I could not find peace with myself working on them for they were restrictive. They were too weak to what I hunger to create.
I don't know anyone here, I know a bit about Uberwigget although that is about it. No one here knows who I am either. I am a person who has spent since the early 2000's writing books and drafting page after page of game design and tables and systems for an RPG. I played World of Warcraft for over decade and went to the very end of the game in Vanilla World of Warcraft to understand what proper endgame content feels like so I did not have to guess and wonder; I've killed Kel'Thuzad 64 times (you can only kill the bastard once a week). I have ran out of RPGs to experience. I now have to start making my own RPG although my skillset is not with coding yet I need to find a way forward.
I have worked with toolsets for other people's games which I cannot buy the rights to use their engine. I live in Canada, I cannot make a bootleg of someone else's game engine and sell it. I must make my own game engine from scratch. Yet this is my absolute weakest skill set; it is my hardest challenge for I have failed at this front for over a decade now. I've made 4 RPG prototypes and I have killed them all for they were too weak. I fear that this is going to be something where I am going to have to buy my way out of this decade long bind. I am having a hell of a time finding people to work with for an RPG to the point where my other projects are taking off but I keep failing over and over to raise up this RPG project.
Right now I am not a coder nor a professional game developer, I have my own corporation where I cut and fly cedar logs to mill and sell out of the forest mountains in BC Canada. I am probably the most odd person in this bunch for if I had to describe myself I would be a Big Foot crossed with a Calculator. I don't know anyone who works on an RPG, I have a Discord presence ( Matthew#3194 ) I work on video games yet the thing that I want to work on the most this damned RPG project is the thing where I cannot find anyone to talk with. I must have played with 20,000 or more people across World of Warcraft since I was 12 and I never met anyone who makes an RPG; I asked around too although I guess I was looking in the wrong place XD. A person cannot make a game without a coder yet I have to find a way forward. Right now I do not even have a person I can talk with about making an RPG. I have a huge community of people to talk with about making a realistic 3D physics based tank game so much so that I am being helped to make the tank game; but not the RPG.
I am sure a fair lot of you guys have looked around to all the other RPG engines for commercial use. The gameplay is not as engaging as what the Invector third person controller offers. Yet there are RPG engines out there with proper character progression depth (attributes, wearable armour, experience, character levels, loot tables etc.) that is not found as a complete package with Invector's third person controller. I want to combine these two 'worlds' so that I can finally have a proper game engine that I can be at peace to work with. Yet I keep failing over and over. It is like I am in a swamp that is near vertical with stinging mist that blinds myself and I keep struggling upwards looking for solid footings to climb yet I keep slipping and falling down. This is a point where I need to cross a threshold, I need to turn my books and army of pages and tables and schematics into a solid, real, existing game engine to act as workshop for myself to start building and transcribing what I have worked on over the decades into a proper RPG; maybe small to start but solid and worth playing. I won't give up yet I need to find help. Rome was not built in day nor was it built by one set of hands.

Your passion is unquestionable, remarkable, and admirable. I would just say that it is a bit baffling with your amount of resolve, that you don't just take the time to learn some basic coding skills. These days it isn't even that difficult. Get yourself visual studio with the unity extension. Take an online course for coding. Microsoft has a free course that takes you through every aspect you'll need to get a great start on what you desire. And people on this site and others would most likely be happy to help with scripts you're having trouble with.
G 4 Greatness is exactly right when he says that Invector and the Unity engine is a great start for everything you're looking to accomplish. The fact is though, that most the people here are already working on their own version of the "perfect" game they have been dreaming of too. Asking them to set aside their personal dream to jump on to yours might not get you real far.
I'm not saying I am the greatest coder in the world (as a matter of fact I'm not very good at all) but I did precisely what I've suggested to you here, and have learned so, so much. Just on my own, at my own pace, and every day I try to get a little closer to my "perfect" game. And I do get a little closer every single day.
In the, just under 2 years I've been trying and learning, I've started and re-started my dream game probably a dozen times, because I would learn something new and realize my previous route was a bad one. And each time I start anew, I find the project goes a little farther and gets a little better. And then it happens again. LOL
I will add, I'm pushing 60 years old and didn't start my game developing until 2 years ago, so you CAN teach an old dog a few new tricks. Before this I was a professional musician my whole life (with some odd jobs along the way because music is a harder industry to succeed in than video game development lol). Still in a creative type field but far, far from video game development. Although being alive before video games were even invented, And playing from pong to red dead 2, watching the industry evolve into what it is today probably helps some.
So bite the bullet, and learn some coding. Get your dream game a good start, maybe even just a good "proof of concept" created. And then go and shop it to some people that will help you bring it to fruition and maybe even help finance it.
I hope this doesn't come off as negative in any way, that isn't my intention. I am just really hoping for your success in reaching your goal of your "dream rpg". And hoping that this will encourage you to follow that dream.
Best wishes and best of luck on your endeavors. I hope to play your vision of the perfect rpg some day.

I hear you my brother, i was in the same position two years ago and from what i see an add on is what you need or a fully fledged system RPG creation package.... You might of opt for recruiting a skilled programmer to your team or do the add ons.... Personally I have been making a similar Add on but decided to focus and label it on my game because there is an RPG add on that is already in creation in the add on section of this forum. All i was saying is the name of the package defines what to expect from the invector system be it melee combat, shooter or basic. But you know your vision and you need to either learn how to code RPG specific material. Go to udemy there is a rpg creation course currently 9 dollars learn then apply knowledge to invector. Or hire a programmer, Or by the rpg add on in the forums Or buy the add on that i am in the middle of creating which has stats, armor equipment, vendor system, stat buffs and possibly character customization.... Again that is if I decide to make it a package. My major issue is that some of my code is based on open sourced github code so i don't what would happen if I sell my add on... Because most of the code and work is my own...

Okay guys you convinced myself, I should struggle to learn coding; I have no reason to make an excuse and everything to gain. Okay where should I start and what coding language would be the most valuable t o learn as a first language for Unity? I was looking around the free section of www.codecademy.com/catalog and it is all weird stuff like data analyst and webdesign and java (I guess if I was minecraft or Runescape dev maybe XD). My Unity coder friend (tank dev XD) said I should start with www.codecademy.com/learn/learn-c-sharp is this a good idea?

Either way I will get better at learning C# although in the mean time I am very much open to fund a package / addon for adding more RPG features onto the Invector controller base. Such as what G 4 greatness touched upon "stats, armor equipment, vendor system, stat buffs and possibly character customization."
I am open for suggestions, I am just looking for a standard set of RPG features found on every RPG nowadays to work with. I am pretty sure I am not the only person looking for a package / addon for these RPG features either. If you guys have any updates please share your progress xD!

My original free rpg kit was developed in unison with someone I paid. And to be fair I didn't pay them near enough for their trouble. But through our relationship i was able to guide them to what I wanted.
But that process also helped ease me into a deeper understanding of C#. And I was able to take what I had learned and create my new rpg system (paid version). To be fair what i learnt was barely scratching the surface of c#, but more importantly I learned to take the initiative to focus in learning it so I could finally put my own scribbles of rpg systems into functional code

What would be nice & needed is the ability to switch characters, as in switch to the companion & the player becomes the AI. Also a command action to tell the companion to attack or not basically an order system to switch the AI goals

This is a really precise feature you're asking for, I don' think the Invector is willing to be that specific regarding the TPC.
However, you already have a follow/stop action, that you can expand upon, and I think someone made a script in the addon section that allow you to do that Chara/AI switch, you just got to dig a little.

Has anything else been mentioned about the Master Template and I just have not seen it by chance? I know it was discussed back in April by the team and I also know that the Player Prefab gets the Inventory and UI prefabs, but what about the Camera? Can that be a child of the Player prefab as well to allow for easier scene management? Sorry if this was already completed or followed up on, I just cannot find anything else on it and Thank You! invector.proboards.com/post/22525/thread
