Hi everyone, I'm feeling a bit under the weather this weekend so I've decided to spend my dev time studying some tutes on blender and unity. But I've also noticed there's a few new add on kits as well as questions on the board about some of the more simpler things that come with Invector TPC. Having spent a lot of time exploring the TPC and addons and how various other assets tie into it, I feel like it'd be a fun thing to do to host a twitch session where I can go over some of the basic utilities that come with the template, and show how to integrate some of the free community addons into a project. I'm by no means a master at it, I've asked a lot on the forums here about stuff, but I've also discovered a bunch of different features that come with the controller that I never knew existed when I first started looking. I'm organising a discord or equivalent voice chat server to run along side the stream, so you can ask me questions that you might have about an issue you're having or something you'd like to go over, and anything I am not 100% on we can work through step by step on the live feed. A few things I will be touching on in the feed without prompt; - Install/Setup of Melee TPC
- Importing of art assets
- NPCs and Waypoints
- Item creation
- Install/setup of community addons
NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART:
When is it?! Well I am from Australia so my daytime is probably the night time for the majority of you (but hey waking up to new addons has been super fun!) and as I said earlier I am a bit unwell, but I might try and aim for two sessions, one will be held late night my time, and the next tomorrow (Sunday my time) around lunch, so that I can make it a bit more accessible for you guys. I'm not expecting a huge turnout as it's fairly short notice, but I might even do another session or two if it is something people like and can follow on to a "let's make a project" series. Anyway I'll aim to have the first session start at 10pm my time, so let me run that by world clocks...
Aus EST: Saturday 10pm New York: Saturday 6:30am Nova Scotia: Saturday 7:30am Germany: Saturday 12:30pm
Helsink: Saturday 1:30pm London: Saturday 11:30 am
So yeah, very early start for some! But late night for me and my family so I won't be shouting and hollaring. The next session will likely be around 1pm My time on Sunday (which is about 9pm New york) but I can move that around a bit if there is popular demand. All the sessions will end up on youtube as well so if you can't make the stream but have something you'd like to see, post here and I can chuck it on my to do list.
I will edit the post again soon once I've set up the voice chat server details, but you can also find me on twitch.tv/uberwiggett . I play a bit of conan exiles and A LOT of rainbow 6 on there but be mindful that colourful language exists in online games so cover your ears if you watch my past videos...
Discord is painless! Code box has the invite link to join. The text section is open now so feel free to jump on and discuss what you'd like to see.
https://discord.gg/dRKcajC And here is my twitch link, I'm probably going to be shoutcasting a RB6 match prior to the stream, so you can watch that too if you're awake :P

Well I think I catfished a few people from my rainbow six discord as it auto alerts them to my stream, probably thought it was an RB6 one anyway I had some issues with connection so the video chops in and out, not sure why, but my audio was fine. Never had such a problem streaming games so I don't know if it was upgrading to the latest OBS that did it, might roll back for the next session. Nobody came on to ask anything but that's ok it was short notice and probably sleepy time for you guys Hopefully tomorrow my stream will be smoother and I can do it all again a little less long winded (2 hrs just to get the basic stuff explained! ) Exporting to youtube now so will post a link when it's done.

no problems, thanks for the likes and views! I've fiddled with the settings and I had a lot more troubles trying to get the stream up and running again! but finally have it stable now so I can prep for another show. I don't think I will do today's one, but perhaps next weekend I'll do one at a time more accessible for the US.

New episode, this time I look at some of the addons provided by Sickscore!
(video is being edited to remove the first minute of wasted time!)
@invector: during the double jump I fall too far and get knocked over with the ragdoll effect. I've noticed a few times that after being ragdolled the equipment points get moved around and thrown out of place when the character gets back up. Is this an overlooked bug or is there something I should be doing somewhere to prevent this?

you just forgot to set your gameobject inside the player like (handlers, weapons, etc) with the tag "Weapon", there is a little infobox on the Ragdoll component saying that the transform rotation of objects inside the player will be mess up if you don't tag they

Hi guys! Grabbed some new assets today ao tonight I'll be doing a video on how to create a character from scratch using the new shooter template and also replacing weapons with new ones in bulk and adjusting them. And then demonstrating the changes in scene. This stuff is already covered in invector tutes but as per normal I'll be on twitch and able to answer any questions you have. I'll also point out some of the issues you might come across in the setup.
edit: ran into an unexpected error and won't be able to make the video tonight, will push it to tomorrow night after I sort it out. Also found a weird bug where my character gets stuck repeating the aim animation and then gets pushed backwards when equipping one handgun but not the other! :S

Cool tutorial. Ok, to answer your questions on physic's in the video: Use Explosion: This simulates an explosion rather then "push" physic's. Think explosion vs shoving you at a wall Height: Explosions are simulated with the force coming below the ground, so people going flying in the air (think 80's rambo movies) setting this to -2 means the explosions will start from 2 units under the feet and push the Enemy upwards. Setting it to 0 just shoves the enemy in a single directionForce Add a continuous force to the rigidbody, using its mass. Acceleration Add a continuous acceleration to the rigidbody, ignoring its mass. Impulse Add an instant force impulse to the rigidbody, using its mass. VelocityChange Add an instant velocity change to the rigidbody, ignoring its mass. And Pro tip, if you set the power to a negative number, it acts like a vortex (so -25 will suck the enemy into the explosion) You can do some sick crazy stuff by starting with an implosion (-50 power) then after a delay spawn another explosion with 50 power.

page 7?! And I thought you guys loved me?! :D:D
new tutorial on getting the TDS controller into your scene, come across some issues and resolved them.
Up next, I will be using Tharindu's EvilA-RPG Addon and SickScores radar/HUD waypoint system to make a top down shooter!
